I have been struggling to get the right shades, and proportion of colour so far in this project. I went to the dye lab to dye my own yarns in cotton and viscose. My plan was to dye my yarns varied shades of grey and experiment with dip dying. Despite using a black dye my yarns came out in a dark and light blue, shown in the images below. Even though the yarns did not come out the colour I expected them too, I shall experiment with them in my samples. If I combine them with a grey and silver cotton I recently sourced, it may create the right balance of colour I need.
